I downloaded from Passport Advantage and installed RAD 7.5.0.1 and WebSphere Portal 6.1 (permanent lics for both)

I clicked on the RAD installation wizard to install the WP 6.1 Test Environment.

Apparently, both the installs for RAD 7.5.0.1 (and the WAS 6.0, WAS 6.1, WAS 7.0 TEs) and WP 6.1 TE succeeded, as I saw no error messages and I can also start WP 6.1 up from the command line and login at the browser.

BUT, I don't see WP 6.1 as an option in my RAD workspace -- i.e., I can't create/develop any WP 6.1 projects etc.!!!

What gives and/or where did I goof up. Thanks!

Mr. Javaranch Moderator,

Do you actually have an answer for my query or did you just want to feel important by sending me a private rebuke...?

Cool it, "George". If you don't like the rule about real names then you don't have to participate here. We do take that rule seriously.

And remember, we are all volunteers here. Nobody gets paid to provide answers, so you aren't automatically entitled to one.

So what do you say? Are you going to be a productive member of our community or do you want to tear it down?

The problem I am having is with the WebSphere Portal environment -- How do I install the WP 6.1 env so that RAD 7.5 wil recognize that I have it and allow me to create WP 6.1 projects?

Any word on this ... I just don't see an option to install Portal Tools or something like that in the Installation Manager.

Should I install Portal 6.1 first and then install RAD 7.5 for it to pick it up or the other way around?

I can't believe that the Info Center has nothing on this -- neither the RAD 7.5 or WP 6.1 !!!

I am using RAD 7.5 but I don't know anything about the Portal side of things. So let me start with the dumb questions: is there some reason you think you should be able to create a "Portal" project? Was that an option in earlier versions of RAD?

And you mentioned Passport Advantage: have you filed a PMR with IBM yet, or are you still trying to identify whether there is a problem?

I have successfully installed Portal 6.1 separately and can successfully install RAD 7.5 as well.

But like I said, when I click on New Project, there is no option in the wizard to create a new WebSphere Portal 6.1 project. Also, in the Servers view, I can't define a new WebSphere Portal 6.1 server.

I got this figured out .. for some odd reason, if you install WP 6.1 before and then RAD 7.5, it does the trick!! Thanks for all your help and time with this.

One more thing we dont give answers/suggestions/hints to the problem in private messages, anything such is discussed in the forum itself. Read this to know why.
Glad that your problem was solved and thanks for sharing the solution .
