Ranchers,

I am looking for your opinions on the quality of the MS Program in Software Engineering offered by BITS through distance learning.
Also, is this program accepted by the industry , particularly Indian IT industry. From what I found in news, this program is sponsored by major IT companies and they are encouraging their employees to go for it.

Whats your opinion.

Thanks

How much will it cost to get a degree from them? I would say the deciding factor should be the money.

Two years MS fee is Rs:80500 INR..

If the company sponsors this programme, you need to stay with that company till you complete the course(i.e Two years)...Its happened with my company and I have completed MS last month only..

I think in the long run it is more useful and one more thing it is more useful if have done B-tech or BE in other than computer science....Let me know if you have any specific questions...

Madhavi,

How was the quality of the course?

Basically, I am trying to figure out if it will add some real value to me?
I already have a B Tech in Comp Science. As you said earlier, it will definitely be beneficial for a non Comp Science graduate. But is it good enough for Comp Sci. graduates too ?

Thanks

Madhavi

It would be great if you could list the subjects . It will help me evaluate if I should go for it

I am looking at the option of getting it financed from the company, but of course it comes with some strings attached . \

Thanks for all your help

Hi,
I am working for a company here at Hyderabad. I heard from people that one year industry experience is mandatory for MS from BITS through Distance Education. I will complete my first year with the company during June or July 2009. Will I be eligible for the course during July 2009 admission. Also kindly tell me the fee structure and any entrance examination that must be cleared for the admission.

Thanks in advance.

Hello Girish,

You would have to go to the BITS website, and find out your semester co-ordinator / Dean.

If you miss any mid term/comprehensive exam, you would have to inform them few days prior to the exam, and if the reason sounds valid, they might tell you about the rescheduling..

Passing mark is relative to the toughness of the exam - I think is determined by the average mark of the group of students and your individual score,
it is called CGPA..

So you should have a CGPA 5 at a scale of 1- 10 and you should not have an F grade on any subject, that is a pass..

I took the course few years back, this is what I know. Please go to their website for the latest info.

Thanks,
Anila

Hi,

I have been looking forward to this course. However, I find that in the advertisement, there is no Software Engineering mentioned. There is a course called Software Systems, but I could not find SE. Anyone has any info as to whether this course had been removed or if not, any info regarding the admission for this academic year, please let me know..

Thanks a lot.

Cheers!
Siva.

what should i do to make my profile stronger, whether go for some paper presentations or something like that?
