Migration from java to EAI

Hi i am having 2.5 years of working experience in Java & j2EE as a developer ,now in my company i have been asked to move to EAI(Enterprise Application Integration). I dont know anything about EAI will this migration from JAVA & J2EE to EAI will help or DO i need to stick with JAVA & J2EE. Since this is a recession time i am very confused please help on this

EAI stands for Enterprise Application Integration. EAI is a good skill to have in addition to your Web development skills using Java/JEE. Many large companies need to integrate with disparate systems. There are many Java/JEE based websites that source data in real time from Legacy systems via integration technologies.

Find out

-- what tools/framworks/products you will be using in EAI?
-- what will you be integrating?
-- Will it require Java/JEE skills set?

EAI market is good...but wrk is not challenging. So if you need less work and more money...you may move to EAI...but I would prefer to stick to Java/J2EE.

EAI work does not involve much coding as you use some EAI tool to do that.But its challenging from design/architecture point of view.Based on requirements, EAI might involve lot of Java programming too.

I have heard many tools like TIBCO,Web methods etc. But i will be working on tool WEB METHODS Can anyone please tell how is the scope for WEB METHODS tool in market and also tell will it adds any weightage to my profile

Webmethods/Tibco are good tools and generally used by big clients in financial/retail sector who generally have many legacy applications.Till recently EAI tools were in demand.Current slump/high cost of these tools have reduced the demand.
Working on these tools definitely add value to your resume.

WebMethods skills are very valuable. They will be a strong asset for anyone that significantly gains the knowledge of how to implement solutions with WebMethods.
