Unfortunately, that's a decision only you can make depending on your field of interest. Also, good and bad seems subjective to me.

Very subjective ..... Have the right skills, knowledge, and experience in sought-after technologies complemented with excellent soft-skills and ability to market yourself effectively. As said before, all depends on individuals ..... How committed? Being in the know how? attitude, etc

From my point of view & experience, for moving onto to big companies or good companies, first of all you have to get noticed or your resume should get short-listed, which will be generally based on any of the following:

1) Your experience
2) Your skills,talents
3) Certifications
4) Market demand
5) Referrals
6) Urgent openings
7) Exposure to niche technologies like struts, hibernate, EAI etc.

what are the points that add weightage to your career at this point of time is:
1) You're no more a fresher & you've got around 1/2 yrs of experience(Don't say in months).
2) You've got development experience in niche Technologies which most companies prefer.

Adding to this
1) Try to complete SCJP sooner or later with a specified timeframe in mind.
2) Post your resume in naukri.com & monster highlighting more on your skills, talents & project experience.
3) Try to get a very good referral in a good company.

Don't leave your current job without getting a new one, as the situation is not good right now.
All the best!
Regards.
