The Hibernate Quickly book by Patrick Peak and Nick Heudecker refers. I read some reviews on Amazon at
Hibernate Quickly

Some of the criticism raised for the book was that:

  • the code examples in the book do not match with the source code on the book's website
  • the source code provided on the book website does NOT work , despite MANY people complaining about it.

  • Any views on this?Is that criticism true?
Is this a good book for the absolute beginner?

I'm looking for a book to buy for some graduate students who have never worked with Hibernate before and would like to get up to speed.

Hi Jeff. I can't tell you about "Hibernate Quickly" but I do recommend Java Persistence with Hibernate. It's well written and it has a good introduction for people new to Hibernate (i started with it) and you can use it as a reference even after you have the start-up. Plus, it's well viewed by the majority of people I've met.
