Hi Ranchers,

Today I appeared for SCWCD 5.0 and I cleared it successfully, I got 84%(58 out of 69). Thanks all of you for always being there and helping me to achieve this.

Hey folks,

Sorry for doing late reply, actually I was on vacation (celebrating SCWCD's result ).

On October 3rd, 2008 one thought came in mind about achieving something in year 2008 (I passed my SCJP on 2007) so decided to give SCWCD within this ~3 month time frame. Anyhow I need to give exam in 2008 year, I choose 31st as my exam day. Purchased HFSJ on 4th October but due to work pressure couldn't start my preparation uptil 20th. So it took me ~70 days to clear this exam. I used to study in typical s/w engg's way; plus my laziness, work pressure due to all that couldn't give many hours for preparation. I used to study ~2hours/day (after going home from office). I'm kind of person who believes weekend is for enjoyment not for study or work (until and unless it requires ).

Materials:
Mainly I studied HFSJ. I read it once for understanding all concepts then read it second time for comparing one thing to another (this is very good trick for understanding/remembering any stuff, when you compare one thing to another in your mind; mind get used to understand concept very clearly). Then I started doing mocks, unfortunately I couldn't get much mocks on 1.5 so I just referred 1.4 exam's mocks. I also gone through Kathy Sierra's SCWCD book (same as SCJP's book) mainly for two minutes drill as HFSJ did not have this last minutes drill. Went through these five links time to time:

http://www.examulator.com/moodle/mod/resource/index.php?id=5
http://www.precisejava.com/javaperf/j2ee/Patterns.htm

After going through mocks, had so many questions for which I need to find answers so I went to book third and last time (Finished it ~2 days)

About exam:
The exam was much much easier than the test given in HFSJ book. I gave HFSJ's exam on 29th (two day before my exam) and I got 51%; I failed in book's exam . Actual exam's questions were good, covering all aspects of exam. I got ~6 drag n drop questions. If you've studied all topics very carefully then you find exam's questions very easy and you can score good in it.

Master Hint:
Do not miss a single word from HFSJ book.

Please feel free to contact me on my email id if you need any help from me, will glad to be help for you.

Note: Before starting for this exam, I was just knowing how to compile JSP using tomcat, neither I've worked any of these technology nor previously I studied it.
