Failed SCEA Part II (old) with 65%

Hi all,

recently I recieved bad news on my SCEA (FBN) Part II:

 Class Diagram (44 maximum) .......................... 27
 Component Diagram (44 maximum) ...................... 28
 Sequence/Collaboration Diagrams (12 maximum) ........ 10 

I missed SCEA by five points .

For now I'm in the same sad position as many others before:
Guessing what I have done wrong, because the reviewer hasn't told. But if they would, certification on the second try could perhaps be too easy.

The worst thing is that it seems that Sun isn't selling Reupload Vouchers any more because the exam will be discontinued on 12/31.

Class diagram (extended from BDM; 16 classes; included SFSB and SLSB as in Cade; took second look on relations, cardiality, multiplicity and on the use cases)

Component diagram split up into 5 smaller diagrams (by package) [Cade]

5 Sequence diagrams

During re-reading my assignment I noticed that I did at least two multiplicities wrong on the class diagram. I swear that I checked the diagram at least four times. Shame. I hope this will be worth five points.

But the first thing that I will have to do is to check if I can buy a new voucher. If not:

Hi, I failed my FBN SECA with 59%.
40 pages, 29 diagrams (12 patterns).

I taken the essay before the assignment has been corrected (regular ???),
I done my FBN in 6 months, and Sun have corrected it in only one week.

Now I'm not able to resubmit the assignment, and I really don't have
any idea about what is wrong !!!.. I asked for it, but nobody have answered me.

It is really sad to fail when we put in so much effort!! Dont take it hard guys!! Just give it a shot again and you should make it!!

Btw, Does any of you guys know what could be the reasons behind this ?

Personally I think that in my case I haven't looked carefully enough at the class diagram. For me it's best to put the things away after finishing for a few days and returning a few days later with a clear mind.

I corrected the class diagram, made changes to my component diagrams and a few minor changes to the sequence diagrams.

I will try with SCEA 5, also because I don't know what to change in my FBN,
the result for me is that I changed my mind about Sun :roll: .

How about posting your individual points of each section? I believe that for instance the class diagram can easily be improved. How about exchanging with others or querying the forum? You may buy a re-submission voucher until 12/31.

Hi,
I don't received anything else than a report that says 59%.
About the diagrams, I have provided the 29 Diagrams that explains the system.
I could understand if someone tells me something like, "-the system doesn't meet perfomance requirement", or "-there are scalability problems" and so on .. But speaking seriusly, a percentage about some diagrams, doesn't tell me anything. It is only very confortable for Sun.

Hi Paolo,

aren't you able to see the results on the Sun CertManager Web Site?

Normally, your results are listed on the "Test History" page. There is also a "<< Details" button on some exams (SCEA, SCJD, ...) that opens a page with "detailed" data regarding this certification. The output you will get is like the one in first posting in this threat.

29 diagrams sounds too many!

I would suggest that you review your class diagram - is it depicting all participating "entities". Missing one could cause a major deduction.

The voucher (CX-310-300R) was not available at the online store. I had to call a sales representative by phone. After two days of waiting for the arcticle re-appearing in the online store again, Sun decided to sell the voucher offline. I had to sign a confirmation and the next day I have been able to resubmit my assignment. I keep my fingers crossed.

Have you had a look at I failed scea part 2: time to learn from mistakes in the meantime?

Hi Guys,

I was very busy in my projects and work, yesterday my friend asked me about my Sun exam on phone, and it was actually a wake up call for me.

I actually bought a vouchar for part 3rd and almost completed my part 2 assignment but didnt upload it on the website, can anyone please tell me that if I have to upload the assignment till 12/31 or also have to take an exam till 12/31.

I am living in New Jersey, I am not sure if due to the holiday's I would be able to take the part 3 exam before 31st

ANy thoughts ?

Thank you for registering for the Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for the Java Platform (310-051). Due to the new release of the SCEA 5, Sun will be discontinuing the existing exam (310-051, 310-300A, 310-061).

Please note that you will have until February 29th, 2008 to purchase your vouchers for 310-300A and 310-061. You will have until December 31, 2008 to complete all parts of this exam.

Also, you CANNOT combine Part 1, Part 2 or Part 3 of the SCEA (310-051, 310-300A, 310-061) exam with the existing new exam SCEA 5 (310-052, 310-301A, 310-062).

This is my report :

I should have some problem with Class Diagram, I have also read that
one can loose many points if doesn't show some class in the class diagram.
And I have shown only the most important, now I will add more details, and
I will try with the resubission.
