Guys,

What does the application.properties file tell us in the resources directory in a Maven project.

If the properties is the src/main/resources directory, then it is for use by the application being built in that project (it will later appear in the target/classes directory and after that in the JAR or WAR file).

So the question becomes, what type of project did you create?

It's a full stack J2EE project. I remember using classpath filtering of the jndi.properties file but I really did not understand why it needed application.properties file. Do we create one or does it get automatically created when building the project using Maven.

How did you create the project in Maven? I ask because using Maven you can create customized application templates (archetypes) and create base applications from them. The web app template I use (-DarchetypeArtifactId=maven-archetype-webapp) does not create an application.properties file, but the one you use might. If it doesn't, then someone create that file by hand.
