I need some of your valuable suggestion in my career move. Currently i am a Java guy having 3+ exp. Now i am very much interested to continue my career in Testing. Reason is so far whatever the projects i had involved i din't get a chance to work on a gud development proj where i am lacking behind in Java. Though for the nameshake i am a Java guy , frankly speaking i dont have a gud touch on this skill. Moreover my exp gave me a gud knowledge on manual testing as my earlier projects demanded me to work in that area. Henceforth i want to move to Testing. So guyz what should i set my longterm goals to be successive in Testing. Please suggest me and tel me how to approach for this decision. Any alternative suggestions also appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Become a domain expert in testing applications in sought-after areas. When the market improves, have a look at finance and insurance domains. I have seen good testers transitioning into business analyst roles. Also, get experienced in sought-after testing tools, writing use cases, producing test strategy documents, generating automated scripts, etc. Good luck.
Thank you for you time. Currently i am into finance domain only. Does it make any sense if i ask my manager to move me into testing and what automation tools should i learn. By the way would you mind if i ask which competency do you belong to [ December 22, 2008: Message edited by: Srinivasa Maddi ]
