There is an doc in java.sun.com :

The Sun Certification and Team Performance: The Impact
on Application Developers
Sponsored by: Sun

Cushing Anderson Lisa Rowan
April 2008

which describes serveral perspective about how the certification impact the team performance.

But there is no infomation like "there are total xxx candidates took java certification exam".

Why not? If somebody win Nobel Prize, of course he want and need to know how many other people had win the same like him.

But passing the SCJP exam is not the same as winning a Nobel prize... ;)

Some time ago (maybe a year ago or so), Sun was celebrating the 500,000th SCJP certificate. But they don't publish figures regularly about the number of SCJP certificates or the distribution of SCJP certified programmers around the world.
