This question arise in my mind because the year 2009 was declared the International Year of Astronomy by the United Nations, in its 62nd General Assembly. this come in News paper.

Most important 3 discoveries in day to day life for me, i keep this list only up to 3 because this list will be unending.
1. spectacles for view everything for all time.
2. light bulb for view at night time or in darkness.
3. Electricity , without it i can not do anything with my computer or even my life stop without it because i use many equipments which work using it .

but this article related to Astronomy, & i didn't find any discovery related to my day to day life like other discoveries other than Calender & Binoculars. One possibility is that i didn't study this topic deeply.
Calender because its base on the cycles of some astronomical phenomenon, such as the cycle of the sun, or the moon.
Binoculars because its base on telescopes.

But if astronomer discover any new discovery in space, then as my thinking its not affect my life.

what code ranchers think about which Astronomical discovery affect normal human life?

I'll be pretty happy if they detect any Earth bearing asteroids well in advance of it hitting

Every day, I spend at least an hour worrying that Pluto is no longer a planet.

Yes, my life is affected by astronomical discoveries. That's because I'm interested in astronomy and other things too, so reading about these discoveries brings interesting things into my life that wouldn't otherwise be there.

True, they don't usually reduce the amount of time it takes me to get to work or anything mundane like that, but if you only think about mundane things then your life must be very dull. But more likely you have topics other than astronomy that interest you. Quite possibly they wouldn't interest me, but I'm not going to say you are wasting your time being interested in them.

I don't see any "International Year of Gastronomy" via Google but I did find that 2008 was the International Year of the Potato. If you aren't especially interested in potatoes, would it help if I mentioned that Pamela Anderson has a page on that site? Complete with her picture?

I love astronomy.

Maybe discoveries in astronomy and space sciences don't provide direct results for you and your life, but as with any fundamental research it is very important to advance science and discover how the world that we live in works.
