Hi All,

I had given the SCJP 5.0 exam and scored 65% in it. I know it is a miserable score but I would like to have a piece of advice from you guys. How much does score matters after passing a exam in industry.

The question is should I go for a SCJP re-exam to better my score or move ahead and go for another advanced certification like SCJWSD or SCJWCD. Kindly advice. Given I have one coupan to spend.

Also if I decide to move on then which one should I go for now SCJWSD (Web-Services) or SCJWCD. Also since I have a coupan expiring so all I have is only 15-20 days. As a background I have experience both on Web-Services and Web-Development.

Thanks in advance.

Congratulations on your SCJP. Do not bother about the score, but make sure you gain knowledge on those concepts that you performed badly in the SCJP exam. As you already have experience on Web Services, better opt for it.

Congratulations on your success !

Some points to your input:
1) SCDJWS 1.4 is much harder than SCWCD 5.0.
2) There is a very good certification guide for SCWCD 5.0 (Head First Servlets and JSP 2nd edition)
3) There is no a certification guide for SCDJWS 1.4 on the market.
4) Current SCDJWS 1.4 is outdated (released 2004)
5) New version of SCDJWS 5.0 will be available in a month or two only.

regards,
MZ

Dear All,

Thanks for the wishes and encouragement. Yes I was also of the opinion that gaining knowledge and getting certified and passing on different aspects is much more important that running around on a single certification for higher scores.

I just wanted to assert myself through my ranch-buddies. I would be preparing and going for SCJWCD 5.0 by end of this month.
Thank-you all for the encouragement and support.
I will appreciate if I can get some more online good links to hone my skills and knowledge.

Thanks in advance.
