dear all

i have seen in many web site pages, (although i don't remember which pages they are), a frame or an iframe is shown disabling the background, ie graying the background, so that only after the completion of entry in the foreground pane will the background page be enabled.
i have seen this in the sourceforge.net while we select alternate mirror to download, an iframe or a small window shows up with the list of mirrors graying out the background.
i cannot figure out any specific technical name attached to this kind of designs. can you please give me some info about this.

i think it is a kind of custom modal window.... is it so???
