Per the javadoc,
Pattern.matcher() actually accepts
CharSequence input, not
String sourceData, so it is entirely legal to pass in a StringBuilder or StringBuffer into matcher().
I've no notion if the
test would ever attempt to verify whether you knew this information or not, but by my read of the quote was trying to convey the method signature (as opposed to a potential valid parameter).
