Hello Friends,

Please help me regarding applying in Dubai for Technical Jobs(Java/J2ee) techs as i have worked on this technology for 1 year.

As we all know global condition is worse and i have some reference in Dubai so is it fine to work in Dubai for sometime.

My View :: I am thinking in this manner to get the entry in Dubai i should work for non-technical kind of job too may be Backoffice Processing and keep on trying Technical jobs but i dont know much about it market of Dubai.

Please give your precious few moments and reply to me as early as possible or mail me to onlyyashc@gmail.com or add me there in gtalk.

Hello yash,

I'm afraid I have bad news for you. I've personally have lived in Dubai for 9 years and it's probably not the most ideal place for computer scientist. The financial condition in Dubai is terrible. My family who still lives there tells me that many people are losing there jobs, no more investments are being made and all the construction projects have been aborted. By the looks of there's a lot more people getting out of there than going in. Until this economical crisis is over I don't see how you'll be able to make it in there unless you've already received a job offer from a company.

I'm sorry for the ill news.

Hello Olivier Legat

Thanks for your concern.

Friend i am from India and now through some source trying job in Dubai because Market condition is worst and i m trying my best to get job here in India but Dubai is my 2nd option till Indian market gets stable.

I know this is Global Recession but i was planning this way -- to work in Dubai for sometime may be BackOffice job in a bank and then uprgrade my technical skills by staying there and getting perks too later may be come back to India or if luck permits work in Dubai. Please add your comments on my decision.

Can i know your Nationality and please give me your chat id.

Mine is onlyyashc@gmail.com

Be in touch and thanks again.

Well working in Dubai has its advantages and disadvantages. The main advantage would be that the salaries are significantly greater than in India. But the biggest disadvantage (and probably the most dangerous one too) is the lack of law enforcements for lower-class jobs.

An example of what I mean by that there's frequent cases where the manager/owner doesn't pay the workers for several months (either because of selfishness/lack of care or simply for not having the money). Especially during this period of crisis you might be faced with a situation where the boss will not pay you for several months (not 100% for sure, but the risk is still there and shouldn't be neglected).

The biggest danger would be taking a loan just to get to Dubai (although all banks have stopped giving loans, but lets ignore that for now). I've talked to people and read articles about immigrants (mostly from India and Pakistan) taking a loan to come to Dubai to work in the construction facility (or any other facility, not necessarily construction). After some time they realize that the living conditions are poor and they don't receive their salaries on time to repay the loan, and so they end up being unable to go home because they can't afford not to pay back the loan. So they get "trapped" so to speak, almost like slaves.

So my advice is not to make any sacrifices to work in Dubai. Because if you take a loan you won't feel free to leave whenever you want.

Concerning my chat ID I'd rather keep that personal (hope you understand). You can still PM me through JavaRanch. My nationality is displayed on my profile.

Hi Olivier,

You are really a friendly guy my nature is like you What is your StarSign?

Well Olivier i got your point because you were very clear and i m thankful to you for such an important information you gave me.

But in my case i will come via strong reference so getting the salary on time will not be a problem because the person who is helping me is the resident of Dubai only and at good post in a bank.

I know its a big sacrifice but i cant sit at home for more days as i really enjoy working at offices and getting cool perks hehe :-) though i am getting offers for teaching in classes per hour basis and from BPO companies.

So now i m clear with my thought process which is going in my mind and now what you suggest from these options ::
1) waiting for the it company(which may take days or months).
2) accepting a BPO job for technical process which i have never done as i never got such bad days in my life hehe :-)
3) Dubai option we are discussing right now.

Regarding your id i will never force you its up to you whenever you feel to give you can mail me to onlyyashc@gmail.com or i keep that decision on you as i respect your point and it is valid too.

Thanks for your kind concern i am really impressed with you and i mean it friend :-)

That's too much of an important decision for me to suggest anything, in the end it's all up to you. I'm only letting you stay aware of the possible consequences of the Dubai option.
