My name is Ian Jones. I’m new to the forum and just wanted to introduce myself. I’m a one man show, starting up a recruiting practice that connects DC area professionals with small/mid-sized innovative technology and new media companies. I’ll be posting positions from time to time on Java Ranch for my clients, but am also available to answer questions about the job market, search, interviews, resumes etc. Please don’t hesitate to reach out, I’ll help if I’m able.

Most of my clients develop software products for the commercial space and are platforms/software as service models. My clients including leading companies in a wide range of technologies from contextual analytics software, to real time video capture/podcasting, to event/rules based operational intelligence development to a Web 2.0 platform that severs over 40 billion widgets worldwide per month. They typically have smaller development teams, agile methodologies, and challenging problems to work on. Although many of my clients use Java as a core technology, their engineers typically bring a wide range of new and innovative languages to the table – Python, Groovy, Grails, Haskell- whatever floats your boat. The important thing for most of my clients is that they hire true engineers who have a passion for solving hard problems, and breaking new ground through technology.

There is a lot going on in the DC area with product and start-up companies, and I can help get you there if you are interested. Don’t wait for me to post a position. With my clients, they are often passive in hiring, just waiting for the right person to come along. Just drop me a line at ian@fluidhire.com and I’ll do my best for you. If you’d like to check me out before connecting, no problem, you can visit my LinkedIn page to review my credentials and recommendations. http://www.linkedin.com/in/iancjones. My get-it-up-quick-and-redesign-later website is http://fluidhire.com

Thanks!
Ia

Welcome to the Java Ranch Ian.

With my clients, they are often passive in hiring, just waiting for the right person to come along.

Very true. The hidden job market.
