Exporting using OpenOffice spreadsheet format

Is it possible to export a table in an open office spreadsheet format?

I don't what kind of format is used by open office, however i know that it can open windows excell files .. and you can use Jasper Reports to generate excell files and many other formats if you interested try searching for jasper reports and iReport

No actually, I do not want to use .xls format. even though Open Office opens .xls files. Thanks for replying though

Instead of the obsolete OpenOffice formats, I'd advise to go with ODF instead. There is a Java library for it (ODFDOM), but ODF is just zipped XML files. It may be easier to create those directly than to use an API; depends on how complex your requirements are.
 
Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
