I know we are not supposed to discuss politics etc here, but can I just have to express My heartfelt congratulations to American ranchers for their brand new President, and thank you for electing him!

Yes, from now on we can only blame our own personal shortcomings for our misery.

Our new President has a daunting list of tough tasks ahead of him. One of the most important is repairing the view of the United States in the eyes of the rest of the world. Posts like this tell us that that work has already begun.

Outside the USA, Obama seems to be regarded much more positively than Bush. In his speech he said that the USA wants to be friends with all people who want a peaceful future, no matter where they come from or what their race or religion is, and he has promised to close Guantanamo Bay and retreat troops from Iraq. So, he's definitely on the way to repair the image of the USA in the eyes of the rest of the world.

Congratulations on your new president!

Yep, I agree, from what I can see around me, general attitude towards America has improved dramatically. If you go to the pubs around here and speak loudly in American accent, you will get slagged off for being loud and American, but this time they probably would also love you for selecting Obama.

For me personally, he seems to speaking sense, picking the right people for his team, and making the right moves so far - science and peace first in his list, and he even acknowledged non-believers in his inaugural speech! That man is educated, rational, capable and will be a good President!

I wish he could also do miracles!

somedays ago my sister asked me

"lucas, why the USA are the 'bosses'"
and then i got like

and she asked:

"yeah, why do the USA command us?"

then i had to explain politics to her.

but its kinda sad to know that this is the impression that television and other medias pass.
i mean, sad to us, brazillians, it must be great for americans to feel like "owners of the world"

POWER = political influence.

isn't a matter of power or money or army.

its that usa government know how to make business.
they know that if you help another country, someday they will need to pay you, and then you have money entering. now multiply that for a lot(i mean, a lot) of countries, and you have and "powerful" economy, lik usa's

Please be careful what you post in this thread. We generally delete all political threads as soon as we see them, since they always cause us headaches. I've been debating deleting this one as well, but since it has mostly been "contrats to Barrack/U.S.A.", I let it stay.

These last few posts are rapidly pointing it in the wrong direction. Please stay away from politics here, or the thread WILL vanish.
