Are you saying I shouldn't have a happy day on the 26th since I'm not Indian?

I too searched for other countries. I could find China as the largest republic (I may be wrong, but definitely India is not largest republic, it is largest democracy )

PS: Know little about your country, it really hurts to see people who doesn't know the structure of their own nation. Sorry if I am offensive to you

What exactly is it about the word "republic" that is so upsetting to you? It pretty much means "not a monarchy, but some form of participatory government." India certainly is that. It's not at all clear that China really is one -- I'm not sure I'd say their government is genuinely participatory -- which leaves India, the second most populous country on the planet -- with a creditable case for being "the largest republic."

Maybe you think the work means something else?

the word REPUBLIC didn't upset me . But there is a huge difference between these two forms of government eventhough they look similar. They are entirely different from each others

DEMOCRACY:

--A government of the masses.
--Authority derived through mass meeting or any other form of "direct" expression.
--Results in mobocracy.
--Attitude toward property is communistic--negating property rights.
--Attitude toward law is that the will of the majority shall regulate, whether is be based upon deliberation or governed by passion, prejudice, and impulse, without restraint or regard to consequences.
--Results in demogogism, license, agitation, discontent, anarchy.

REPUBLIC:

--Authority is derived through the election by the people of public officials best fitted to represent them.
--Attitude toward law is the administration of justice in accord with fixed principles and established evidence, with a strict regard to consequences.
--A greater number of citizens and extent of territory may be brought within its compass.
--Avoids the dangerous extreme of either tyranny or mobocracy.
--Results in statesmanship, liberty, reason, justice, contentment, and progress.
--Is the "standard form" of government throughout the world.
