This is useful for those who are working far from home.

Open Google News Alert, in Search Terms write name of your native place or a city near to it or district name. Set the appropriate mail frequency and email and all updates will be there in your mailbox.

This may not be useful for people whose native is a small village.

Well my native is also small village. I put alert on the name of my village, on the name of a railway station near to my village and a district in which it fall. I may not get exact news of my village, but I will get news of surrounding anyways.
