I think that yesterday I accidentally discovered a food combination that generates a large volume of .... um ..... air displacement.

For a while I had to check to see if I was actually breathing in AND out through my mouth - I thought that maybe I was just breathing in through my mouth and breathing out through my pants.

After a while, the thought occurred to me, that should I chance upon this recipe again, I could possibly teach myself a whole new way to whistle.

Just thought I would share.

Don't leave us hanging. Spill the beans, so to speak - what was it? Just so that we can, errr, avoid it, of course.

funny, my mom would always say peef, peef, peef whenever I did that: but I've never seen the pfff sound associated with, um, air displacement by a Caucasian. What made you think of that?

What made you think of that?

The sound when one attempts to whistle, but doesn't!

Spill the beans, so to speak - what was it?

I've been trying to remember ...

I do have some apples that are sooooooo good. I ate more than one yesterday.

And .... oh wait! Now I remember! It was bagel day yesterday! I tried a couple of bagels and sampled all sorts of cream cheese!

The person who originally made a career out of that (Le Petomane) is no longer with us, so maybe there's an opening for you:

Oh yeah, this conversation is going in the right direction

Regarding pulses: I have been told that if you wash them well before cooking it reduces these after effects. There is an additive I've seen a friend use which is designed to minimise the pfffft, but I haven't used it and couldn't say what the active ingredient was.

Regarding apples: (how to you like them apples?) When I was working in hospitality I had a customer spend quite some time trying to convince me that you should never eat fruit after a meal. The reasoning was that the fruit fermentation during digestion produces gas, and it gets trapped behind the food on the way out. Maybe you can try repeating the experiment with bagel then apples, and then a few day later try the apples, wait a half hour and then have the bagel.

We want a chart of results. Just a sec, no we don't.

Hye Paul Wheaton, if I am not wrong, a part of Europe is facing problem related to unavailability of (cooking) gas. You can help them.

Do you produce gas that confirms EU Standards?
