Hello all,

Just wanted to provide some information that I received from sun certification customer support .
I purchased my assignment in Dec 2007, and I have not purchased the essay exam yet. When I enquired about the time limit this is what I was told.

""There is a time limit of one year from the time of download for completing the assignment. We will however allow you to finish your certification. You must finish both parts before the end of the year.""

So anyone reading this who bought the assignment probably need to follow up with sun cert I guess to get confirmation about changing policies.

Please let me know what others in this situation received about their time limits.

Thanks,
Mary

Hi Mohamed,

I started my assignment in june 2007 (so even before you) and i hope to finish around the time you'll finish. So when i downloaded/purchased the assignment there was nothing said about a time limit. They didn't send me any notification at all of the changed "time policy". Even on the SCJD-page at the sun-training website it still says "time: no limit" (and adjusting a website could be easily done in 1 minute).

So in my opinion they can't refuge your/mine assignment when done. This new time policy is only for new downloaded/started assignments.

Regards,
Roel

This is very true. I have had mine out almost 3 years, and after seeing a similar post on this forum, I wrote to Sun.
This is the relevant part of their reply:

You can still upload your assignment. We highly recommend that you do so as soon as possible.

I am hard at work cleaning up, testing, and trying to figure out locking I would really like to get this over with, and they just forced the issue

The SCJD page on the Sun website states clearly in the Details section:

Details

* Delivered at: CertManager database
* Prerequisites: Must be Sun Certified Programmer for the Java Platform (any edition)
* Other exams/assignments required for this certification: Step 2 (CX-310-027)
* Exam type: Programming assignment
* Number of questions: N/A
* Pass score: 320 points out of 400 possible points *
* Time limit: None

So I hope that what you're saying is not true...

I started mine in Dec 2008, and I got the "1 year limit" according to Sun CS.

And the global SCJD page was not updated yet. So I'm not sure if it is really 1 year. Maybe sooner or later they will change it to 1 year like the SCEA part 2.
