Websphere Application Server 6.1 and JavaMail problem

I'm running my web app on websphere 6.1 and wanted to include a automated mailing system. I would use Gmail's SMTP server to send the mails. But that requires SSL over SMTP which is not supported by Java mail 1.3.1 which is the default java mail package included with websphere itself.

However the new version of Java Mail 1.4.1 supports SSL over SMTP. I tried placing the new version 1.4.1 jar in my web apss WEB-INF/lib folder and changed the class loading order to application first. But still the server does not use the newer version..but uses the default version which appear in j2ee.jar and mail-impl.jar..

Im getting this exception.

javax.mail.MessagingException: Could not connect to SMTP host:, port: 465;
nested exception is: Unconnected sockets not implemented

BTW i use RAD for development , and i used the same code in a Java console Application and it works perfect.

Some help please
It wasn't my idea to go to some crazy nightclub in the middle of nowhere. I just wanted to stay home and cuddle with this tiny ad:
