Hello all. I'm an EJB 2.1 newbie so please forgive me if this is a dumb question...

I thought entity beans, after they are created and loaded with data from a database, will sit in memory for an amount of time and just be reused whenever they are needed. So, if the data in the database doesn't change, the entity beans don't have to go back and pull the data again. This will make accessing the data much faster.

But, I have a basic app that pulls some data from a database. When I refresh the page, and look in my log file, I can see that the data is being pulled again from the database. Is this normal or do I need to change some setting to make it do this?

I'm using JBoss for my server, if that matters.

Thanks for the help.
It is sorta covered in the JavaRanch Style Guide.
