I am developing a application where it contains a jsp page say a.jsp . when i click a icon in a.jsp a pop up window say b.jsp is opened.here i am selecting a video file from a drop down menu that contains many video files and when i click save button for selected video file, the video file should be automatically stored or saved to former page ie a.jsp page as hypelink . when i click that selected video file from a.jsp it has to play .can you give me a suggestion how to proceed for this.

Well I can give you some idea how this might be implemented. This might be a more complicated solution as I have never done this. On a.jsp, when the user clicks on the link to open b.jsp, the link should open a new window. With the new window opening, the original page i.e. a.jsp should also make an AJAX request to the server. The AJAX request would go to a servlet which would wait on an object in the session or the session object itself. The other page that is opened i.e. b.jsp would post it's request (i.e. the video that the user has selected) to a servlet which would set the selected video in the session and notify the other servlet i.e. the first one which is still to serve the AJAX request. The AJAX servlet would now send the name of the video as a response to the AJAX request. a.jsp would receive the response and do whatever is needed...
