Hi,

I have a requirement where in I need to write a file on one unix server through a program running on an another unix server.

I thought of writing file on same server and then FTPing it.

I found a program too for FTPing:

But it gives following exception:

While I am googling this exception I would like to know if I have any other option available? Will there be any case where this approach (FTP) won't work? Anything that might cause problem going forward?

Thanks.

There's always something which can go wrong when you are dealing with networks. Maybe the system you're trying to send the file to doesn't have an FTP server running. (You should make sure that one is supposed to be running there.) Maybe it usually runs, but it's down for some reason. Maybe the whole system is down. Maybe you don't have a connection to the network. Maybe you aren't authorized to connect to the FTP server. Maybe you aren't authorized to access the directory where the file is supposed to be put.

I could go on. But your responsibility as a designer is to put in place a system that will work if the network is running correctly. As you can see from the short list of possible problems, the system involves more than just Java programming.
