I downloaded the Sun offline jre 6u11 installer from java.sun.com: jre-6u11-windows-i586-p.exe

It FAILS when installing on my WinXP SP3, with the following message:

"The wizard was interrupted before java(tm)6 Update 11 could be completely installed. To complete installation at another time, please run setup again. Click Finish to exit the wizard"

Previous install versions were successful. I cleaned them off, and the 6u11 installer still blows up.

* My control panel does NOT contain any Java Icons for managing java versions.

* I do NOT have any java/bin folders included in my PATH environment variable or its other nested env. variables

* I do NOT have any java files or folders in my C:\WINDOWS\system32 folder

* I do NOT have any java plugins registered in my Internet browser

* I do NOT have any java Windows Services running/existing

? Should I edit the Windows registry and do a search on the word "java" and do a "replace all" with an empty string?

To install a jvm, I have to get my coworkers to zip up their jvm and email it to me. Then I include that directory on my system path. Of course this doesn't allow me to use java WebStart.

Were any other apps runs when you did the install?

Did you try doing as the message said ie did you try running setup again?
If so what happened when you ran it again.

Figured it out!

Nothing worked when I ran the sun jre6u11 se offline installer about 15 times -- it blew up every time.

I got the Sun jre6u11 se installer to run a successful install after I searched through my entire WinXpSp3 registry and deleted every key containing the word "Java".
