Hey Friends!

Long time back I got a very good advice on certain issues I was facing in balancing my personal and professional life.. better than the one I got on the women discussion forums!

I am trusting you guys again

Well, I have had two gaps in my career. One when I got sacked as was at home for 8 months.. and second when I went with my hubby to UK for 1.25 years!

We may have a baby soon [ in around 6 months time] and there wont be any close relative even nearby to help me out.. all stay at a considerable distance from our place..

The thought of it gets me into a loop.. and I keep thinking about how to manage without being able to come to any specific conclusion..

Not sure if it is a question or a confusion or helplessless experienced due to future thoughts..

any help?

Regards,
Tina

For the first year or so you'll likely be too busy with your new job as a diaper changer to worry much about your job as an IT person

After that there are the 24/7 daycare centers, drop your kid off monday morning on the way to work and pick it up again a week older on friday evening on the way home.
Not what I'd call being a good parent but it sadly seems to be getting popular.

Better solution would be to work from home, telecommuting is something many IT jobs are well suited for.
If your husband can do the same you can both decide to work part of the week from home, part of the week from the office.

That's what several of my colleagues do, others chose for both partners to start working parttime so there's always someone at home for the kids.

Im in India .. ont in US

where 24/7 day care is either your mum or mum-in-law!

I sometimes consider work for some sites like getafreelancer.com etc
Thing is I know only couple of such sites. and I guess these need company details when you register.

Secondly, I wonder if these are a good option at all..

I am not sure at my level in India, my current employer [though a big name] would allow working from home. Its generally one grade above me.

Tina

Work from home in India is still a concept not really practised and working as a freelancer sometime helps but most of the time it is unlikely that uou will get a project. I think you should contact mafoi they offer various flexible staffing options.

What does that mean? Can you explain a bit more?
