Thanks! It was written by me. But I haven`t practice enough. I can read and undestand English text good anough, but it hard to speak and write for me.

Then I would advice you to take an english class. Alternatively
you might be able to find(in your town) a group of like minded and make an
english user group.

Read an english book/a chapter of a book each week and discuss it in
english.

Looks like the writing part is coming along ok! Or do you mean hand-written words?

One thing to consider when learning a widely spoken language like English is what you want to use it for. If you want to learn it to speak in a particular part of the world, it may be worth spending a bit of time getting used to the accent and local words used there, perhaps by listening to on-line radio stations from that part of the world.

Coming to a forum like this may also be helpful - a daily conversation would be good practice... although you'd end up with a vocabulary skewed towards Java, work permits, certificates, old films and bald heads.

My case is just the opposite! I can read/write Russian script (Cyrillic right?) but can't speak. And though I can read / write Russian I don't understand most of the words. Long ago (as a kid) I had started learning Russian just because I wanted to understand Russian boards in James Bond movies!

I think we can help each other

Hey rinat your english is pretty good. Keep speaking and it will improve your fluency ( you will speak with ease ). Find a buddy with whom you can speak english and in no time you can master it.

But do take care to watch for the forms of especially verbs you're using.
"I`m study English," for example should be "I'm studying English,".

Common mistake from people who don't have a formal education in a language, which is why some classes with a teacher could help you a lot.
Correspondence courses can work as well, but won't do much to cure bad accents (which you may or may not have).

I want to learn to make sentences right firstly. I`m writing now, but I`m don`t sure that I`m writing right. (correct me, please). Of course I listen to the radio in english, see films, read books, but it is passive perception. I want to be more active.

Mostly what you're writing looks pretty good. There's a couple of errors in the sentences above (it should be "I am not sure" rather then "I don't sure", and perhaps the "firstly" should be at the start of the sentence), but if you can write as much as you have in this thread then you are a long way towards your goal. In fact a lot of English people probably have a poorer quality of written English

Of course I listen to the radio in english, see films, read books, but it is passive perception. I want to be more active.

That's good. Have you ever listened to BBC Radio Four? That may be a good one for practising as it has no music - it is just news reports, some drama, current affairs programmes and so on. Also most of it is in mainstream English without some of the dodgy slang other radio stations will use. (Hmmm, is "dodgy" slang itself?!).

That's still passive though, unless you talk back to the radio! Perhaps you could join an English class or organise a pen pal to write to.

At the moment I'm also trying to learn another language, and struggling a bit. I think what I really need to do is to spend some time living in the country of the language I'm learning, so that I can be exposed to it as much as possible. I go to classes and listen to radio, but its not enough. But then I'm not a very good linguist - I'm certainly not good enough to participate in a forum in this language!

Sorry for my long silence, I was very busy.
Thanks for correction my sentences.
About my English... When I wrote in this thread I was very excited, and I attempted to write right.
I wrote very slooooowly. Now I write little quicker, but I sometimes confuse tenses (Present Continuous and
Present Simple). Also I confuse articles (a, an, the or zero), I know its formal meaning, bun i can`t use its right.
What language are you learning? I`m agree, Iive in the country of the language is a good practice.

Urgh, grammar. Very little grammar was taught when I was at school, even in the language lessons. I knew what a verb and an adjective was, but very little else. It never occurred to me that there may be more then one past tense or future tense!

This has made learning another language very difficult. As well as learning the language itself, I'm having to learn the basics of grammar. At the moment I have to think hard about things like the tense I need and what gender a word has (the idea that words have genders is very odd to an English speaker!), but I expect that practice will make it easier.

Teaching the theory of grammar seems to be something many other countries do well. Part of the reason why the British always seem to be useless at speaking other people's languages is that we don't really understand our own!

What language are you learning? I`m agree, Iive in the country of the language is a good practice.

I'm learning Greek. Unfortunately I only get to spend a week or two there each year, so its hard to spend a lot of time surrounded by the language. Its also not as commonly spoken as some other languages like French and Spanish, so its hard to find radio stations and newspapers to read here in the UK. Apart from that, I spend only an hour and a half a week in a lesson, which is not really enough to learn a lot.

One thing I admire is how people learn English verbs. I'm having enough trouble learning reasonably regular Greek verbs (although they do seem to have about a million different forms), but it seems that a lot of English verbs are very irregular. They must be tricky to learn if memorisation is often required instead of pattern application.
