Very glad to let you know that I have cleared SCEA Part 1 exam yesterday. The topics discussed in this forum helped me a lot to achieve it.

Now need to think about part 2. And a quick and silly question -- Can I use a voucher for Part 2 which is not purchased by me?

Congratulations!
I believe you can use only the vouchers bought in your country or maybe continent since the price differs between Europe and US. I saw some people selling vouchers on those forums and I suppose they were informed. Anyway please let us know what Sun responds.

The below is the mail I got from Sun regarding this. Still not sure why this restriction is only on part 3.

Also the re-take offer is also not applicable to part 2 or part 3

Regarding the retake it seams to me strange.
I got the following email from a Sun Learning Services Administrator:

Hi Ionut

Yes, the retake promotion is valid for Romania.

The retake promotion is valid for exam vouchers only and not Assignments.
Therefore, you may purchase a retake voucher for CX-310-062.
The retake vouchers I currently have in my possesion expire 31 April 2010.

However, you will need to complete Step 2 (CX-310-301A) first.

I asked Sun about it again, why part II is different. From the reply I read that part II does not have any vouchers since you pay the money and download the project from Sun site. That is interesting, because for some reason, I thought that part II is using vouchers as for other exams, and when you want to download project, you give them the voucher code... . But now from the below mail I understand that I am incorrect.

Its still confusing me to see some postings (even inside our forum) where some one was trying to sell part II voucher of the exam... May be the information is not correct. Until I pay myself to sun for Part II, I dont know the real fact about voucher.

Any how, this is what Sun replied to me on asking them again for clarification. Please add your information as well so that the post can benefit other ranchers who have similar or same question

You do not use a voucher for part II that has to be purchased from Sun Training. The voucher is valid for part III.

This is really weird.

The part III for exam (Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 5: Essay (Step 3 of 3) (CX-310-062)) is not valid for the re-take offer. As per the listing Sun published, only part I (both new and upgrade) is valid for re-take promotion.

The list shows only the following

* Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 5 (Step 1 of 3) (CX-310-052)
* Upgrade Exam: Sun Certified Enterprise Architect for the Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 5 (CX-310-053)

Please refer to http://www.sun.com/training/savings/retake.xml for details. You have to purchase the voucher by April 30, 2009 to be eligible for this promotion

But I am not sure why Sun responded like what you posted
