2)pollution, under control

or the Cowboy Bebop scenario:

1)population, hiding underground on Earth, flourishing on Mars and Ganymede
2)pollution, diminishing on under-populated Earth

population: 50 billion+
pollution: nonexistent
energy: thermal and solar, fusion
tech: hydroponics, thought control
peace: totalitarian world government keeping population under control by forced euthanasia of non-productive people

best case:
population: 1 billion or less on the planet, billions all over the galaxy
pollution: non-existent
energy: solar, fusion, weird stuff
tech: ftl travel (maybe even instant comms/travel), genetics/life enhancement techniques yielding what is effectively immortality.
peace: total. With lifespans stretching into centuries or more the risk of sending people into combat is too high to contemplate.

On the subject of peace:

I wish that I could be as optimistic as some.

500 years? We will not have learned much in that short time frame.

If I get wildly optimistic, perhaps we will have moved our squabbles off planet. But we will still have them.

I assumed it to be peace on earth... Moving conflict away from the planet would bring that about

pollution - may decrease as all non-renevable resourses may get exhausted
Energy - people may start depending on the renevable resourses
Technology - computers would be fitted into a newly born baby's brain
world peace - definitly peaceful as humans loose thinking capabilty and machines rule
