VLC media player.
I was able to watch many media files which WMP was unable to play.

It is one of the most platform independent players available, with versions for Linux, Microsoft Windows, Mac OS X, BeOS, BSD, Pocket PC, and Solaris.

Unfortunately it is powered by bottlenose dolphin tails (and they just throw the rest in the dumpster).

And I've always wondered about the logo... why traffic cones? They usually mean "get outa here!"

I also like flip4mac, which allows QuickTime to play Windows Media clips.
