Hello there!

Yes I know, my topic is a little.... away from what's probably accepted.

But I need to know the answer to this Question:

Is ADO.Net Entity Framework based/inspired upon JPA (or any ORM Framework like Hibernate?)

Does anybody have the answer to this question? or even better a place in the internet to read about it?

Thanks in advance,

Jose

ADO.NET predates both JPA and Hibernate. ORMs though are not a new idea so it is a simmilar sort of thing.

Plagerism? Are you suggesting Hibernate and JPA plagerised from ADO.NET? I would very much doubt this is the case, especially as ORMs as a concept have been around since the 1970s.

Hello Paul.

Actually, I'm suggesting otherwise. that being that ADO.Net plagiarized JPA. (And that'd usually be the case, as it's a Microsoft tradition, Right?).

I hope to read your following comments.

Sincerely,

Jose

Well,as I said, ADO.NET predates Hibernate and JPA, so that is just not possible. It was released early February 2002.

But as I said, none of those technologies are original. ORMs have been around since the 1970s. I'm not sure what the point of this discussion is - does it really matter?

Hi!

It doesn't really matter. All I wanted to know is who came with the Idea First: Sun or Microsoft. and this is only historically important to me because, it reinforces the knowledge or notion I have that Microsoft always copies a good thing. Doesn't matter to what degree they do this, The relevant point is that they do, I mean it's clear here that even If it's an old concept, Microsoft were not the ones to bring it back to the present age of programming that we live in right now.
And... It just called my attention that the similarities with JPA are uncanny that's all.

Have a Nice Day.

Jose
