This is the action replay of 26July 2005 where more than 200 people died. This situation has arised because civic administration has failed for last many years. Many NGOs and environmental studies had given warning over last few years on this almost like psunami situation but businesses, political leaders, beurocracy was interested in making undertable money.Open gutters, lack of space, encroachment of huts and illegal buildings/shops,lack of free space have created this situation.
Still newspapers are creating stories of 'heroic' act like "How some poor boy save some rich man",how people took TV serial actress out of her car and gave shelter etc.

..........Many NGOs and environmental studies had given warning over last few years ..............

How many flats u bought in the area reserved for parks , play grounds etc?
Aren't u happy that ur investment is giving the good return? That is exactly everybody wantns in Mumbai.Just good return. Who the hell cares about environment? Everybody wants to blame authorities , has anybody bothered to see how BMC and police force are working?

They are literally standing in water for more that 24 hrs. Has anybody even offered a cup of tea to them? Why do we do that? We r not authority, its not our job, isnt it?

How can we expect the drainage system that is meant for 3 million population should harvest the water of 15 millions ?

Isnt it a high time to freeze the influx and have some strict entry criteria on the basis of education/skills and requirement etc?

British used to write Indians and Dogs Are Not Allowed on the doors of their establishments.

What do you want to write in Mumbai?

Any place can be open for all or open for none there should be no discrimination basis of any criterias.

I am not a big businessman or politician to buy many flats in a city.
and who gave the permits to builders to build apartments on a reserved space?Who gave the permission to build the slums?Me??

Everybody wants to blame authorities , has anybody bothered to see how BMC and police force are working?

Mumbai is a failure as far as the administration is concerned. One should read the Maximum City book to get insights into the nexus between politicians, authorities, police and all illegal doers.

They are literally standing in water for more that 24 hrs. Has anybody even offered a cup of tea to them? Why do we do that? We r not authority, its not our job, isnt it?

Why one should offer evern a glass of water to them?? .They created the mess. Its their job to clean it.

How can we expect the drainage system that is meant for 3 million population should harvest the water of 15 millions ?

Again the same question, who gave the permits when infrastructure is crumbling?who asked all people to come in Mumbai and do the businesses?

Isnt it a high time to freeze the influx and have some strict entry criteria on the basis of education/skills and requirement etc?

Its doesn't work and its unconstitutional.Instead state govt should accept the fact that city is a failure and should concentrate on other draught/underdeveloped areas where farmers are making suicides or children dying of malnutrition in eastern Maharashtra.

By setting up SEZs in various part of the country, government is trying to reduce the burden from the metro cities (some people are seeing it as Real Estate Scam).

Any international city has some development plans. And any development plan can be successfull only if IN/OUT is regulated. And regulator can be put thru some criteria And criteria is education/skills and the city's requirement. What's wrong in this?

It is the fundamental right of any Indian to settle anywhere in the country. Don't convert Mumbai in to another J&K.

Im not denying this. You did not understand the issue.

Ex.
In 1 BHK flat one family can live comfortably. But if another family joins, what will happen? Naturally both families will suffer as the flat is small. Who is to blame? Flat owner?

That is what is happening in Mumbai. With this kind of influx and space limitations any authority (around the world) can not provide better life than provided for Mumbaikars. Then why to cry? Just accept it.

There are many reports including that of Patankat which I think was submitted in 70s about decongestion.First state govt need to reduce the dependence of the city.As long time is passed, state govt and muncipal corp should do the following.
1)make a stay on selling mills to private builders including that of Kohinoor(which belongs to big politician),Mills are closed since 1982 but selling the land to build shopping complexes and restaurants is not a solution. It will further increase the load.
2)Declare that no single new building will be constructed in Mumbai and vicinity.Rather than businesses, this will be strongly opposed by politicians/MLAs/officers as their source of income will be stopped.
3)Cover the gutters properly.
4)Declare new schemes, tax relief for businesses who will open the offices in Maharashtra but outside Mumbai/Pune.I think recently they have declared.
5)Reduce the city's importance in terms of Air/Rail/Sea traffic.Population increases because the all the jobs connected with Air/Sea increase. This can be achieved:
5a)Increase the importance of other city,Nagpur.Govt(state and central) should build international airport there.
5b)develop the other ports in Konkan area which will take 80% of sea load traffic.
5c)Develop the better roads in above areas.
6)Declare the programs at district level to increase the businesses.

A rule that prevent any new real estate developmenst in heavily congested / populated area can be a solution. People are free to housed in remote areas of WR / CE / New Mumbai. But builder have veto power over public interest.

Report has asked so many things from governments both state and national. One should not have this many expectations from them.

This is the main problem which PM too said in recent trip.Exactly two years back he wanted to convert Mumbai to Shanghai.
Any land whether develop/undeveloped has limited resources and infrastructure which should be used cautiously. One can not exploit over the years again and again.Otherwise it collapses.

Ive not read Patankar report. But if this is the report, that is exactly what Im talking about. Instead of blaming govt, find out the root causes for current situation in Mumbai, provide the solutions and insist govt to implement those. Why cant we see some strong protests when govt violets any of the suggestions. Ive not seen any media involvement any forum discussing Patankars report. Why we see all these hue and cry only after we are in trouble?

Why do we always forget that we are the ones who elected the govt ? So just blaming them will never solve the issue. We have to provide suggestion and make sure that is getting implemented.

It is easy to blame the municipal corporation when things go wrong.

I am sure there are the corrupt and incompetent officials and the good hardworking ones too.

At the end of it all, there is nothing man can do when it comes to the forces of nature - I am not saying that the BMC did or does all that it CAN do.

Bombay as a city has made a lot of progress over the last decade or so. It will probably never be a Shanghai in my lifetime. I don't want to live there any longer, but I am mighty proud of it.
