For SCBCD5.0 (on EJB3.0) is experience on JDK1.5 needed?

Hi,

I am planning to prepare for SCBCD5.0 (on EJB3.0).
1. Would I need to write code in JDK 1.5 syntax to pass it? I have been working on Jdk1.4 so far.
2. I clared SCJP 1.2 5 years ago, do I need to upgrade SCJP first? Am I eligible to write SCBCD5.0?
3. Also I hear that my HF EJB book has now gone to waste? If I were to buy only one book for SCBCD5.0 which one should it be?

Thanks for your advise.

Regards,

Sheriff

I'm not sure it's a must, but at least read something about Generics and enhanced for loops.

No need to update. You're fine.

One may not be enough, but I'd recommend EJB3 In Action. You'll find other resources here.

Don't forget annotations! It is a big topic in EJB3 and JPA.

It's better if you know the jdk 1.5 features.

EJB 3 uses annotations heavily, so knowledge in Java 5 is a must at least about annotations feature.

I think you'll learn what you need about annotations during SCBCD preparation (at least I did; they were not part of SCJP 5). I agree with Christophe, generics and enhanced for loops should do. About generics: generic types are enough. Don't become crazy because of type erasure, generic methods, type interference and so on. You won't need it for SCBCD.

By the way, can someone tell me why there are these empty lines at the beginning and ending of my post. They are not part of the text I edited.

Thanks a lot everyone. So for SCBCD its actually JDK1.5 + SCBCD for me Tough job.

A related question: Does preparing for SCBCD help me in clearing SCEA Part-1 as well?

Not really, you need to understand only some features of Java 5, however Java 5 was released for quite a long time, you should know Java 5 features regardless of whether you are preparing for SCBCD 5.

Yes, it would help for sure. Actually, it would help you not only in part 1 and in part 2 and 3 as well.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
