Has anyone dealt with this virus? Yesterday, somehow my PC at home got infected with this virus and Norton was not able to clean this up. The file infected is windows\system32\igxdbu.dll. I tried a manual delete but I get the "used by another application" though I do not have any applications running. I was about to download a utility called "dllview" (to see which application had loaded this dll) when I read that even that may be a virus. Any suggestions? I will format my PC as a last resort.

I think that virus is loaded at startup. So for deleting you need to remove the same from startup. For that type "msconfig" (with out qotes) on run command. and go to startup tab on top right corner and see whether any unfamiliar files are loaded on startup. Remove tick mark on those files and confirm and restart your machine. Then try to delete the virus infected file.

You can start windows in safe mode or create a startup disk, boot from it and then delete the DLL file.

Thanks, guys. I will try your suggestions after I get home. Actually, the Symantec site was mentioning more or less what you guys have been suggesting but you have been more specific.

Kelly's Korner: Delete an Undeletable File in Windows XP

Or create a new registry String "Value" under

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\RunOnce

Value Name: Delete igxdbu
Value Data: C:\WINDOWS\system32\cmd.exe /c del C:\WINDOWS\system32\igxdbu.dll

and reboot.
