*gives virtual fist-bump to Ed*

Enjoy your week! May all the questions be straightforward, all your answers useful, and all your available book copies be sold! Except for the four winners, of course...

Are you sure that's February and not March?

Welcome, Ed.
I am reading Hello, Android. It is a wonderful introduction to programming on Android.

I highly recommend it for anyone starting out on this topic.

Looking at the Book Promotion Schedule, it should probably be March 10 - 13.

Ed, great book! I reluctantly had to return it to the library last week, and have been thinking about purchasing the PDF version to always have it handy. Does that format cover updates, or (much like print) do I only get the current edition at time of purchase? I've read some of your blog posts about planned updates and would really hate to pick up a copy only to have a new version come out a month or two later.

Thanks. I find it useful myself because you can search in PDFs. By the way there's a discount if you get both formats.

Updates to the same edition are covered (see this FAQ from the publisher for details) but so far there hasn't been a need for an update. No major errors have turned up in the errata and no changes were needed for version 1.1. The only change I'm thinking about right now is to update all the Android documentation URLs in the book, because Google redesigned their web site after the book was published. However, Google is kindly redirecting the old URLs (e.g., http://code.google.com/android/reference/android/R.html) to the new locations (e.g., http://d.android.com/reference/android/R.html) so most of the links still work.
