Hey! any active students here? I'm just bored! I have been checking this forum eveyday since my last submission, still waiting for my new nitpicker to be assigned.
May be a dead post but I am here. Never programmed a thing in my life, talk about biting off more then I can chew...Glad I am stubborn or this could take a while, oh wait it is going to.
I'm an active student. I started the Cattle Drive last month. I have been programming 30 years but in more traditional top-down languages. Some of the languages I use have changed to include objects but none are pure OOP like Java. Java is a change for me and the Cattle Drive is a great way to grasp the language.
Hi. I'm active too. I'm a Lotus Notes/Domino developer who's been playing with Java for some years without getting really serious about it. Participation in the Cattle Drive is me getting serious about Java.
I am modifying my endorsement of the Cattle Drive that I posted on 8/17. I still think the drive is a good way to learn but it seems the nitpickers on the drive are overload and response times to submitted assignments in my case have been as long as 22 days between when I sent the instructor my revisions and received a reply.. I have touched base with other students and they have also experienced similar response times. This means that by the time I am nitpicked I am so far away from the assignment that it takes awhile to go back and pick it up again. If learning Java is not urgent go ahead and use this course. If learning Java is required for bringing Java technology into the work place another alternative should be examined for training.
