How much secure Android phones are compared to other competitors in the market?

Is it secure enough to do online banking, transactions, shopping, money transfer etc.....?

For what type of user Android is targeted? Business, Enterprise, Entertainment?

Thanks,
Nikesh

Android's web browser uses the same SSL protocol that the browser on your desktop uses, so your communication is just as secure.

Overall system security of the Android software stack is good because it layers the security of managed code (no buffer overruns and other common causes of security holes) on top of the security of Linux processes (no inter-process communication or file access except through narrow and controlled channels).

Current Android phones target casual users with some entertainment capabilities. But just like the iPhone, I expect we'll see this broaden out to business, enterprise, gamers, and other users as the platform matures.
