In Spring,What the difference between Interceptor and filter?

Functionality wise ,Both are doing same kind of work???.If so ,why two thing?

Filter is when you want things to work from the web container and it is configured in web.xml.
Interceptor works within the Spring Container and that I believe makes it more configurable.
