£ is prefixed with £ in JSP

Hello All,

I am facing a problem with £ symbol in JSP, £ symbol has been prefixed with a junk character £, below are the page directives i am using.



I searched in google, no where i found solution. Requesting your Help.

How is this Pound symbol getting into the JSP? Is it UTF-8 encoded at its origin?

i removed UTF-8 from page directive,it worked fine. don't know what would be impact of it on my code.

Well, that character must somehow have become part of the JSP/HTML page, and the question is: was it UTF-8-encoded at that point? If it wasn't, that would explain why it causes problems on an UTF-8-encoded page.
