Does anybody know any good FREE tool that compares files (TEXT format only) and show the difference in a nice GUI or other format ?

Thanks

For which OS? For Windows, check out WinMerge (on SourceForge); for OS X, there's the excellent FileMerge (part of Apple's developer tools).

Hey, I am using "Compare It!" from http://grigsoft.com.
It is very easy to use and results also very much correct.

On Windows there is windiff: http://computerperformance.co.uk/w2k3/utilities/windiff.htm

I recall that EMACS has a great file compare utility.

I also second the recommendation for Compare It!
