Hi all,

Cleared SCJP 1.5 exams with 93% yesterday. Purely by thorough reading of Kathy Sierra & Bert Bates book only.
No illegal material..

Thanks to Kathy and Bert.

Hi Welly,

Thanks.

I was having knowledge of Java before Starting K&B. I had read Java Complete Reference well. And I had gone through K&B book twice for preparation, and that throroughly. and in second time I just zipped the book in just aroung 15 pages of handwritten notes. And before appearing in exam, just revised it.

Exam is not too hard if you imbibe each and every concept of book. And make sure that you are going for the exam with Fresh mind. It is the most important thing I have realized.

Most of the reading I have done was early in the morning because of job. But I dont think it should matter a lot. If you can do fulltime preparation, 2 months is more than enough.

Congrats Vish ....im going through K&B book for the first time. I will go thorough the book once more before taking the exams .Also , lot of mock exams will help a lot. Though i had little java knowledge in the past, i didnt get coding exposure a lot.

i need to know if we have any website where we can test our knowledge chapterwise...that will make us understand concepts thoroughly. Also let us know the source site for taking mock exams. njoy your score

Hi friends,

Firstly, I want to congratulate you for your nice score.

Secondly, preparation method and psychology are different for others..
For instance: To solve the tests of the Devaka and pass the 60% that is faith in man. So i want to say, if we eat the "melon of the scientists" much, it will be so excellently.
...to repeat that is is the mother of the knowledge..

Congratulations once again..

Thanks all..

I completely agree with Rizvan. Methodology of reading that works for one person may not really work for someone else..

@nagaraju,

I think these all are discussed in the same thread with Welly.

And one more thing I would like to add is if you see introductory part of K&B, then you will find that you can't directly dig into K&B and start learning java. You need to have beginner level knowledge. And what I feel is practicability of the concepts in the K&B will make you a lot safer than doing mock exams. Some mocks is necessary but after certain level, you will do some amount of unforced errors, that wouldn't be case if you are trying each thing practically, according to me. Case may be vice-versa for someone else.
