I don't know what you thought, but it's a band. Five horns, a capella. No rhythm section, that is.

The band site and
some sample tracks at CD Baby

America on CD1, Happy Birthday on CD 2, and the slap tongue technique on Twix Flambe on CD 3 stood out for me.

Interesting, I've never heard the lack of a rhythm section referred to as a cappella. To me, it means music with vocals only. Literally, it means "chapel style" though. Is that what you meant? I'd really like to find that chapel with the big brass section. I might become a more regular church goer.

I thought it was a proposal for a new ranch title: Greenhorn, Hornhead, Ranch Hand...

I just copied a capella from their site.

In a small club in Chicago I saw an African American a capella group. The front man kept saying "Didn't have no instruments on the boat, don't need no instruments now!" That was the headliner and that's all I remember. The opening act was an unknown named Bruce Springsteen. Sat on the front edge of the stage and did an acoustic first set with "the big man" on clarinet and the bassist on tuba. It was sweet.

Don't get me started about those stupid light bulbs.
