Your solutions don't work, you incompetent scapegraces! How dare you post at JavaRanch at all, if you don't even know what a proper response to a such an urgent and important question looks like: a ten page essay, ready to be submitted to the teacher!

Wow, that's fun!

Esteemed colleague,

I am Tarquin BS Hopkirk the son of the late Sir Randolph Hopkirk, famous anthropologist and computer scientist.

Before my father's death, he left his entire archive of Java codings in a safe deposit box here in Lagos. As sole beneficiary to his estate, I have power of attorney over these works. These works are very valuable and cover every problem encountered over the last 30 (THIRTY) years. These codings are worth 5,000,000 (FIVE MILLION GREAT BRITISH POUNDS). However, due to the recent civil war in our country, it is no longer safe to store these assets here.

You have been recommended to me by a great friend who wishes to remain anonymous. We require a 'third party' to receive the informations which are currently stored as five 5 1/4 inch diskettes. As our agent, you would receive 10% (FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND GREAT BRITISH POUNDS), and a share of the codings.

I am honoured to contact you with this problem. I understand that through Internet is not the best way to link up with you because of the confidentiality which the transaction demands. However, I have already sent you this same letter by post one month ago, but I am not sure if it did get to you since I have not heard from you, hence my resending it again.

I and trust that you will treat this transaction in the great confidence.

God bless for your understanding,

Tarquin B S Hopkirk

That method is deprecated in jdk 1.4.2.
Please read the docs there is no other better substitute.

Yes, a search on Urgent brought up over 165 threads. Surely you could find your answer there.

"What! you havent found a solution yet. I sold this solution to a customer months back (and got a great commission on the sale). Anyway I'm only interested in selling new solutions, so please don't hassle me about the things I promised, even if they are impossible - I'm only a [rich] salesperson."

I like this story: A team developed a support system based around the
ELIZA AI program. They hooked it up to the mail service (on Unix) . After about a week of the system giving replies that were just questions based on the previous mail (typically Please go on or Tell me more), a user stormed into the office to complain. A programmer looked at and asked What do you mean by that, please go on. Maybe JavaRanch could do something like this

Eric,
Can you give me a link to a whitespace tutorial?
I can't find one on Google.
Oh yes, it's URGENT!!!

Actually, there is something on Google but it's written in whitespace so I can't understand it.

Kind Sir,

Thanks you for responding, this truely is a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity for both of us. God be with us in this endevour.

Alas, the codings are in the safe deposit warehouse at the airport. This building is under the control of local rebels. I fear that the only way to release these assets is to bribe the guards. Due to corruption and the already large expenditure of this project, I am unable to undertake this financial.

As our foreign agent in this project, I ask humbly that you assist in this respect. In return for this deed, your share of the assests will increase to 20% (ONE MILLION GREAT BRITISH POUNDS), and 2 (TWO) of the 5 (FIVE) 5 1/4 (FIVE AND A QUARTER) inch diskettes. If you agree, you must send the sum of 1042.36 (ONE THOUSAND AND FORTY TWO GREAT BRITISH POUNDS AND THIRTY SIX GREAT BRITISH PENCE) by Western Union wire transfer to my associate, Mr Farnstock-Whithingstall (a trusted friend of my late Father). He will 'pay-off' the guards at the warehouse and obtain the assets.

I trust that you will perform this deed in good time and in the greatest of confidences in this matter. We only have 2 (TWO) days.

God be with us in this transaction, and afterwards we shall be great fiends.

Your trusted business associate Tarquin.
