Yes, it's a known bug. Until this is fixed, no one will be coding in Java.

Variables declared as static cannot be reassigned new values. If you don't want your code interpreted at runtime, use the "native" keyword for faster execution. With encapsulation enabled, exceptions are inherited rather than thrown, so you need to override main to see them. If your code compiles with errors, you will need to decompile it before attempting to compile again.

But seriously, if you need code fast, try my CodeOMatic. The output sometimes requires a bit of manual cleanup, but once you get that to compile and run, you'll be in good shape.
