I'm not sure whether this is the right forum to ask this question because I'm also not sure whether JavaRanchers are fashion-concious.

When you wear pants and shoes which colours are different, what is the colour of the socks you are wearing? Is the color similar to the pants or similar to the shoes?

Are you asking about the right sock, or the left one?

Black is safe.

Otherwise, I actually match the socks to the shirt.

I meant that I match my shirt to my socks, not my socks to my shoes.

It's so confusing.

We have a company wide dressing policy according to that we must wear socks which are darker than pants.

Last month, one of my roommate's socks were smelling horribly. Don't know what he felt, he washed his socks with my bath soap.

If dressed formally, with a tie etc, your sock should match your trousers or should be darker than your trousers.

I am not sure about rest of the world, but if you are in UK/Ireland, DO NOT wear white socks to a pub or a night-out, unless you want to let others know about your different sexual orientation.

hmm, that effectively bans you from wearing black pants
Unless of course you don't wear socks, in which case there's no question of which colour to choose

I have black socks. All the same make & model and whatever, purchased together so they wear evenly. I have a few brown socks. I put them aside, wear them only with tan trousers. Compared to all the different socks I had before, this saves 3 or 4 minutes of sock sorting per week; I use the time to work on saving the world. Or eat chocolate.

This is exactly why I wear only white socks, all of the same make. No sorting when they come out of the dryer... just grab any two and you've got a pair!

Why white? Why not? No one ever sees them anyways (see my profile picture to figure out why).

I advocate the timeless fashion sense popularized by NASA engineers during the 1960's: White short-sleeve dress shirt, black polyester pants, narrow black belt, narrow black tie, black shoes, and for that spot of color, navy blue socks. Accent with a flat-top hair style, black horn-rimmed glasses, and a Timex watch. If possible, drive a Chevrolet convertible.

And have your wife shoot you, going to work in your Chevy, with an 8 mm(Super 8) Kodak.

Red? Have you forgotten our adversary in this Space Race?

Actually, a brown leather case for your glasses would be a functional asset for that pocket. And if you've got a carrying case for your slide rule that clips onto your belt, so much the better.

PS: Don't forget the UNIVAC tie clip!

I match my socks to my shirt, too, but I'm a girl. Is this a SA meeting?

Me: Hi, my name is Mo and I'm a sockaholic.
Everyone: Hi Mo!
