I know some of us are still trying to get up to speed with Seam 2.1 and all the nice things it brings (Excel, Identity Management, etc) what sorts of things (besides being based on Web Beans) should we be expecting in Seam3?

Seam 3 which will be WebBeans based. It will be JPA 2 based and JSF 2 based so that is the big picture here. The next big thing in Seam is going to be really WebBeans

Thanks Karthi. Yes, the major development effort right now is the Web Beans RI which will serve as the core of Seam 3. As far as additional features, there has been nothing announced yet (even JIRA only shows 1 issue for BETA1) but I suspect that this information will be coming soon. Sorry I can't be more helpful here, but I think the RI is keeping everyone busy at the moment
