A custom authenticator was used in version 8.1 which is currently not working in weblogic version 10.3
I placed the jar file under WL_HOME\server\lib\mbeantypes ,but it does not get listed in the provides -->Authenticator .How can i make this visible under the Authentication configuration

Look at the WebLogic document named upgrade.pdf or its html equivalent. There is a section named Upgrading a Security Provider. They provide a tool to convert your provider.

You can upgrade a previous provider or you can add a custom provider through the admin console. Did you try doing that ?
