I am trying to learn JQuery why there are two versions of each event helper .
blur( ) blur( fn )
$(document).ready(function(){ $("input").blur(function () { $(this).next("span").css('display','inline').fadeOut(1000); }); }); $(document).ready(function(){ $("input").blur() { $(this).next("span").css('display','inline').fadeOut(1000); }); });

The JQuery documentation says what it does:
